Project Controls Officer – Capital Projects
Tier 1 Mining Company | Perth Based | 12-Month Contract (Potential 2-Year Span)
$80–$100 per hour | Work from Home Flexibility
We are currently seeking a Project Controls Officer to join a leading Tier 1 mining company and support the delivery of major capital projects across Western Australia. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-performing team while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project budgets and forecasts
- Monitor actual costs against budgets and report on variances
- Support monthly cost reporting, including data validation and accruals
- Process invoices and ensure alignment with budgets and commitments
- Track cost impacts of variations and scope changes
- Perform journal entries and cost balancing at End-of-Month
- Oversee contractor cost tracking, timesheet validation, and variation assessments
- Manage contractor monthly claims and verify civil quantities
- Assist with schedule development and progress tracking
- Conduct earned value analysis and support schedule risk assessments
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and procurement teams
- Maintain control of project documentation and registers
- Ensure timely distribution and version control of documents
- Coordinate documentation for reporting, meetings, and audits
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 2–3 years of experience in cost control, planning/scheduling, or project support
- Robust understanding of project controls and financial/project reporting tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365
- Mandatory SAP experience (CJ20N, ME51N, Z4051, Z7127, Z7143)
- Exposure to scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project (preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in civil or infrastructure projects (desirable)
- Understanding of construction sequencing, WBS, and change control processes (desirable)
