We're hiring an accountant to take ownership of the compliance workflow; preparing and managing tax returns, BAS, and financial statements across our client base.
You'll work alongside a senior accountant who'll support you on complex technical matters, with admin capacity beneath you and a clear development path ahead of you. This is a role for someone who enjoys the technical side of accounting and wants to build genuine depth in it.
Responsibilities
* Prepare individual and entity tax returns (companies, trusts, partnerships)
* Manage BAS, IAS, FBT obligations across the client base
* Prepare financial statements and working papers
* Manage your own workflow, WIP and deadlines
* Work through technical matters including GST, CGT, Div 7A and trust distributions with senior support available for complex issues
* Support and develop admin staff on bookkeeping and data entry tasks
* Progress into SMSF compliance work as your experience develops
Qualifications
* CA or CPA qualified, or actively studying toward completion
* At least 2 years' experience in Australian public practice
* Confident on Xero and ideally Xero Practice Manager (XPM)
* Genuinely self-sufficient; comfortable managing your own workload, prioritising deadlines, and working through problems before escalating
* Strong attention to detail and pride in getting the technical work right
* Based in or relocating to the Ballarat region (hybrid, with at least 1–2 days in office per week)
* Right to work in Australia on a permanent basis

* $70,000–$85,000 + super, negotiable based on experience
