Role Purpose

The Finance Officer will be responsible for finance processes relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee wages and credit card reconciliations, that will support the future plans and best practice service aspirations of Central Queensland Indigenous Development.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

* Manage accounts payable and receivable activities.
* Verify and match invoices to purchase orders and send to workflow for approval, in accordance with policy.
* Accurate and timely payment of employee wages, in accordance with the relevant award and policies.
* Process credit card reconciliations.
* Accurately calculate, record and report GST on purchases and sales.
* Conduct debtor and creditor management, including communication and reporting.
* Assist stakeholders with processing and troubleshooting.
* Assist with bank reconciliations.
* Improve financial systems and assist other team members.
* Use of Invoice Capture software like Xero, ApprovalMax and Dext.
* Prepare financial information as required.
* Assist with annual audit requirements.
* Participate in shared corporate activities and uphold CQID values.
* Perform other duties as directed.
* Maintain and assist the Corporate Services team to ensure compliance against obligations under the ISO: Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS).
* At all times work within CQID's Workplace Health and Safety approach, Policies and Procedures.
* Work always to advance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional relevant duties as required by the Finance Manager.


Qualifications and Experience

* Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver's Licence.
* Current Working with Children Check, "Blue Card".
* A minimum of 2 years' finance experience and / or experience in a similar role.
* Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate.
* Willingness to actively contribute towards achieving CQID's overall strategies.
* Working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, electronic banking and payroll.


Desirable Qualifications

* Experience with Microsoft Excel, Xero and Employment Hero.


Accuracy and attention to detail

Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.

Works well in a team environment.

* Essential
* Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander heritage –
* Effective organisational and time management skills to oversee competing priorities and meet deadlines.
* Competent in use of Microsoft Office software.
* Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities.
* Ability to communicate effectively; spoken and written.
* Self-starter, motivated and able to self-manage work tasks.


Desirable Skills and Attributes

* Proficient numeric accuracy.
* Ability to learn and use computer-based accounting systems.
