ICT Cost Modeller
Location: Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney
We are seeking an experienced ICT Cost Modeller to support a large-scale transformation programme focused on modernising complex ICT environments, including hybrid and multi-cloud platforms, security services, and enterprise communications.
This role will play a key part in providing evidence-based, risk-informed cost models to support strategic investment and delivery decisions.
The Role
You will develop and present robust ICT cost models that support programme planning, option analysis, and decision-making at senior levels.
The role involves working across technical, commercial, and stakeholder groups to ensure cost estimates are defensible, transparent, and aligned to delivery and architectural assumptions.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop comprehensive ICT cost models covering scope, effort, dependencies, and whole-of-life considerations
* Apply structured estimation approaches to produce clear baselines, options, and cost insights
* Analyse cost drivers, risks, and uncertainties, producing risk-adjusted estimates
* Engage with stakeholders and vendors to validate assumptions and inputs
* Provide comparative cost analysis to support investment and delivery decisions
* Contribute to estimation governance frameworks and continuous improvement of costing capability
* Present clear, evidence-based cost insights to support senior decision-makers
About You
You will bring strong experience in ICT cost modelling within complex environments, with the ability to translate technical and delivery assumptions into credible financial insights.
Key experience includes:
* Demonstrated experience applying costing tools such as:
o Capability Costing Tool
o ACEIT
* Strong understanding of:
o ICT delivery environments
o cost estimation principles and methodologies
* Experience producing high-level cost models and forecasts for large programmes
* Ability to assess:
o effort
o technology drivers
o schedule assumptions
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable Experience
* Exposure to cloud or consumption-based financial models (FinOps)
* Experience applying structured analytical techniques
* Familiarity with enterprise architecture concepts
* Ability to work through complex or ambiguous problem spaces
Requirements
* Current NV1 security clearance (mandatory)
* Based in Canberra
