About the work unit / facility
Operating Theatres, Townsville University Hospital
The Operating Theatre suite includes 15 theatres, including a new Hybrid Operating Room. Services span across multiple specialties including cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, ENT, plastics, orthopaedics, paediatrics, and more. Nurses rotate across elective and emergency theatres, with flexible shift options and mandatory on-call participation.
In addition, the Anaesthetic team provides anaesthetic support to outlying departments including Medical Imaging, Brachytherapy, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cathlab Services, Interventional Radiology and Mental Health. The theatre complex and outlying areas are supported by an 18 bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.

Competitive salary and benefits
* Nurse Grade 5: $41.73–$53.53 per hour + superannuation + shift penalties.
* Permanent part-time with negotiable hours, multiple positions available.
About your opportunity
The purpose of the Anaesthetic Registered Nurse is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients, anaesthetists and nursing staff within the Operating Theatre to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care. A combination of 10, 9, 8 and 6 hour shifts are rostered to ensure anaesthetic nursing coverage to all theatre lists. Continuous shift work and rostering to the on call roster is mandatory for all staff deemed competent.
Requirements
* Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing, AHPRA registration.
* Highly desirable: Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
* This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
* Probation period may apply.
* Pre-employment checks may be conducted, including criminal history checks.
