CONTENT MARKETING COORDINATOR
Axil Coffee Roasters | Hawthorn, VIC
Full‑Time | Onsite
About Axil Coffee Roasters
We're an award‑winning specialty coffee roaster based in Melbourne, and we're home to Jack Simpson, the 2025 World Barista Champion. We run cafes across Melbourne and roast coffee for some of Australia's best cafes and businesses.
THE ROLE
We need a Content Marketing Co‑ordinator who can create killer content and isn't afraid to get behind a camera. This is for someone who's experienced (not entry level) but still early in their marketing career, loves coffee culture, and wants to build real skills at a fast‑moving brand.
Here's the reality: 50% of this role is content creation. We need someone who can walk into a cafe with a camera (DSLR / Mirrorless), shoot a product or event, and deliver Instagram/TikTok‑ready content the same day. You should already know how to do this - we're not looking for someone to learn content creation on the job.
You'll work directly with our Marketing Director and the wider team to bring our campaigns to life. As you get better at what you do, there'll be chances to take on more – whether that's running EDMs, leading campaigns, or whatever else you're keen to learn.
What You'll Do
NOTE: This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role, but as part of a dynamic marketing team, you may be asked to take on additional tasks and projects to support the business and your professional development. We encourage curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn – some of the best growth opportunities come from stepping outside your comfort zone
* Content Creation & Social Media – hands‑on creation work shooting and editing multiple times per week. Create content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn – photos, videos, stories, reels, the works. Write captions that actually sound like us. Keep an eye on what's trending in coffee and social. Respond to comments and DMs. Help us plan what's going out and when. Deliver polished content without hand‑holding.
* Create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and Rednote (photography, video, stories, reels).
* Write compelling social media copy that captures the Axil voice.
* Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages.
* Stay on top of trends in specialty coffee and social media.
* Assist with content planning and scheduling.
* Marketing Support & Collaboration – work with the team to create assets for EDMs, social posts, and campaigns. Manage the social media accounts, grow followers, UGC content and influencer relationships. Help launch seasonal events, promotions, and BAU activities.
* Work alongside the marketing team to develop creative assets for interdisciplinary teams (Retail Ops – In‑store, Sales, Events, Online) and the wider brand.
* Assist with seasonal campaign launches, campaigns and events, as well as BAU marketing collateral development.
* Support email marketing efforts (Klaviyo and Hubspot) – with opportunity to take on more ownership as you develop.
* Help maintain website content (Shopify).
* Create marketing collateral (e.g., price tags, menus, coffee bag labels, in‑store signage).
* Grow partnerships / collaboration / influencer and UGC campaigns.
* Grow your skills in campaign management and execution.
* Events & Activations – help run in‑store events, tastings, and activations. Create content around these events. Coordinate partnerships and collaborations.
* Administration & Organisation – keep the marketing calendar and Asana up to date. Organise brand files and assets. Track basic performance metrics. General marketing team support.
What You'll Bring
The Must‑Haves:
* 1‑2 years creating content professionally (marketing roles, content creation, social media – internships count if you were actually shooting/editing).
* Proven ability to shoot and edit high‑quality photo/video content independently – this isn't entry‑level.
* You can write – not just captions, but actual good copy that sounds human.
* Expert with DSLR or mirrorless camera systems – you should own gear or have reliable access to it.
* Proficient in video and photo editing (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Lightroom, Photoshop). Canva alone won't cut it for this role.
* Strong design skills in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite for creating marketing materials and collateral.
* Confident shooting run‑and‑gun style content on your own.
* Must be able to execute shoots from a brief with minimal direction – creative problem‑solving when things don't go to plan.
* You've used social platforms enough to know what works and what doesn't.
* You're organised and actually follow through on things.
* You're a team player – we're a small team, everyone pitches in.
* You actually like coffee and hospitality culture (this matters).
* A portfolio demonstrating food/beverage/hospitality content is essential.
Bonus Points
* Own DSLR/mirrorless camera and video equipment.
* Experience with lighting setups and audio recording.
* Adobe InDesign experience for layout and print design.
* Portfolio demonstrating food/beverage/hospitality content.
* Any experience with email marketing platforms (Klaviyo, Hubspot, Mailchimp, etc.).
* Basic knowledge of Shopify or website CMS platforms (Square, Squarespace, Shopify, WooCommerce).
* Understanding of the specialty coffee industry.
* Experience working in hospitality or retail.
THE PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You're an eager content creator, creative, organised, and love creating content that makes people stop scrolling. You're confident with a camera in your hands – whether it's shooting products, behind‑the‑scenes content, run‑and‑gun videos, or designing BAU marketing material that tells a brand story. You can take a brief, execute a shoot independently, deliver polished content, and run‑and‑gun that captures the Axil story.
You're a team player who thrives on collaboration, takes feedback well, and isn't afraid to contribute ideas. Most importantly, you love great coffee and want to be part of the Axil story.
What We Offer
* Competitive salary + superannuation.
* Professional development and mentorship from the Marketing Director.
* Opportunities to expand your skills and take on new responsibilities.
* Staff discount on all Axil coffee.
* Free coffee (obviously)
* Work directly with the team behind the 2025 World Barista Champion.
* Supportive, passionate team culture.

This role reports directly to the Marketing Director and works closely with the broader marketing, retail ops, sales and roastery teams.
