NRAR enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply and ensure water is used lawfully so that all communities and the environment get a fair share.
DCCEEW conserves and protects the state’s natural setting. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations. It also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state to support the workplace, communities and industry. We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW and are committed to meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in environmental management. The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with transparent stewardship of water resources.

Responsibilities
- Permanent full-time role and creation of Statewide Talent Pool for future opportunities
- Undertake a range of compliance-related activities, including inspections and investigations
- Provide technical and educative advice to enhance compliance standards under the NRAR Act 2017 and water legislation
- Balance compliance and educative responsibilities while dealing professionally with diverse industry participants
Qualifications and Skills
- Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in natural resource management, science, law or forensics, or equivalent experience
- Experience in investigations, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and knowledge of investigative methodologies, rules of evidence and court procedures
- Experience or knowledge in Water Management and related legislation preferred
- A current NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive to remote locations (may include overnight stays)
- Appointment subject to satisfactory criminal record check
