Responsibilities include providing supervision, support, and direction for the multidisciplinary Community Team, ensuring effective continuity of care, promoting effective admission, discharge, and case management practices, and participating in clinical teaching. The role involves supervising fellows, registrars, and Junior Medical Officers (MOs), as well as teaching medical students from the University of Melbourne and other disciplines as negotiated.
We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following mandatory requirements:
Registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Knowledge and experience in providing direct clinical care for adults and youth accessing community mental health and acute inpatient mental health services. Experience in clinical supervision for other health professionals. Understanding of contemporary clinical mental health service provision in Australia. Understanding and ability to apply the Mental Health Act 2022. Accredited in Victoria to perform ECT (or willingness to achieve accreditation). Willingness to participate in a shared weekend and on-call roster. Employment Type: This is a full-time opportunity.
About AWH: It is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service providing mental health treatment, care, and support, including Alcohol and Other Drugs services. The service encompasses 10 community-based programs, three acute care services, and three recovery and rehabilitation facilities. We support families coping with parental mental illness and connect them with carer consultants.
Our teams comprise mental health clinicians from nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychology backgrounds, all experienced in various therapies. Our diverse service offerings provide valuable experience to expand and embed your clinical practice skills.
