The Organisational Development team at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Project Officer to join their team on a temporary basis.
Identified role: Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Your opportunity
The purpose of this role is to provide high level local coordination of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander training and employment programs by partnering with the Queensland Health First Nations Training Pathways Program team, local School Staff, Community Engagement Officers, Indigenous Liaison Officers and internal Mackay HHS staff to support the engagement, recruitment, placement and successful completion of school based traineeships, workforce traineeships and cadetships for students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
About the Team
Mackay HHS has developed an Education 2 Employment (E2E) program, an initiative for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people which aims to inspire, educate, engage and motivate through structured health employment pathways. Mackay HHS in partnership with Queensland Health First Nations Training Pathways Program, Group Training Organisations, Registered Training Organisations and other partners, to deliver health-related Vocational Education Training (VET) qualifications with formalised pathways to a School Based Traineeship (SBT) in either nursing, allied health or support services.
