The group is focused on continuous improvement and delivering strong outcomes for its members, clients, and community.Role PurposeThe Finance Manager will lead the in-house finance function, overseeing day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, compliance, and reporting.
This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial management, cashflow oversight, statutory compliance, risk analysis, and insightful reporting to support decision-making at Board and Executive levels.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingOversee all daily, weekly, and monthly finance processes, including capture of transactions, reconciliations, and reporting across multiple business units.Manage daily till sales reporting, food & beverage, and wagering activities.Oversee cash, EFTPOS, cheque, ATM payments, and invoicing processes.Manage accounts payable and receivable for two businesses, including HBS Catering Equipment.Maintain strong client relationships and respond to financial queries.Prepare and lodge statutory reporting obligations, including BAS, WorkCover, Community Benefits Statements, and support ASIC/Gaming Commission requirements.Deliver monthly Board reports, including variance analysis, commentary, and recommendations on unusual transactions or trends.Provide cashflow management and prepare detailed commentary for Board review.Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and end-of-year financial reporting, including liaison with the Company Auditor.Conduct asset account analysis and ensure accurate records.Risk & ComplianceConduct risk analysis on financial activities and advise the CEO on financial decisions.Ensure the Company's financial systems are robust, compliant, and support both current activities and future growth.Oversee compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, including ASIC and Gaming Commission requirements.Planning & StrategyPlay an active role with the Company's Board and Senior Management in the review and ongoing development of the Company's Strategic and Annual Business Plans.Provide financial analysis and insights to support long-term planning and business growth initiatives.Leadership & OperationsMentor and support junior finance team members.Oversee payroll and review contracts.Manage relationships with external IT provider (Sydney-based).
Assist with ad hoc analysis and business improvement initiatives.Skills & Experience RequiredProven experience as a Finance Manager, Company Accountant, or similar role.Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and cashflow management.Demonstrated experience with compliance reporting (BAS, WorkCover, ASIC, Gaming Commission).
Background in risk management and financial systems oversight.Experience preparing Board reports and working with auditors.Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.Experience mentoring or developing junior staff.High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.QualificationsDegree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CA/CPA preferred but not essential).
