We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative, and flexible to join our friendly and hardworking team. The role involves assisting with the routine Haematology & Coagulation service at Ipswich Hospital.
You will be HCPC registered with relevant knowledge and experience in NHS laboratory Haematology & Coagulation suitable for this band. The ideal candidate will be confident, motivated, and possess a broad skill set, including good numeracy and literacy, training experience, and attention to detail. Previous experience with ACL TOP and Sysmex XN analysers, or understanding of the technologies used in Haematology & Coagulation, is required.

The role includes supervising the Coagulation and Haematology sections, managing daily organization and staffing, maintaining analysers, troubleshooting, coordinating engineering visits, monitoring quality control, managing stock and reagents, updating SOPs and staff competency logs, and ensuring ISO:15189 compliance. Deputising for the Haematology Lead in their absence requires good knowledge of routine Haematology and Coagulation.
Additional responsibilities involve overseeing purchase orders, invoice receipting, networking with referral providers, and handling information requests and issues. The post is line managed by the Blood Sciences Haematology Manager at Ipswich.
Our pathology department is part of the East Coast Pathology Network.
