Primary objective
Provide high-level specialist advice and use expertiseto deliver the repairs and maintenance program and any assigned Minor New Works and
Capital Works projects to the Tennant Creek Hospital, as well as associated health facilities across the Barkly Region. Delivery of services includes
the 24-hour operational management of critical building assets and their electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical engineering systems essential to the
provision of medical services.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Contribute to the development of building and maintenance programs by developing scope and cost estimates for future projects under
consideration by clients.
1. Manage maintenance and project delivery at the Tennant Creek Hospital and other associated health facilities across the Barkly Region,
including planning, investigations, project design, procurement and documentation, project administration and financial management of
projects to meet the client's requirements in relation to time, cost and quality of work.
1. Ensure projects meet the requirements of the NT Building Act, Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards as applied in the NT. Carry
out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and environmental guidelines.
1. As the Technical Manager, deliver assigned Capital Works, Minor New Works and Repairs and Maintenance projects within the region,
ensuring projects meet the client's requirements in relation to time, cost and quality in accordance with briefs provided by Client Departments.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent; or relevant experience operating in a hospital environment in a
field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
2. High-level written and oral communications skills, knowledge of building industry design, construction, repairs, and maintenance management
techniques applicable to health facilities.
3. Demonstrated ability to prepare documentation for design, procurement, and project and contract management.
4. High level of current knowledge and expertise in project management together with a high level of working knowledge of the WHS
Regulations, NT Building Act, Building Code of Australia, and Australian Standards as applied in the NT.
5. Well-developed information technology skills including word processing and spreadsheet software as well as project management and design
tools.
6. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
7. Current Driver's Licence or the ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Diploma in Building Project Management, Government Contract Management or similar.
2. Sound knowledge of business management and business drivers in a political and economic environment.
