**Who we are**
The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Government's Antarctic goals. These goals are to:
- maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it,
- protect the Antarctic environment,
- understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system,
- undertake scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.
The AAD also has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard and McDonald Islands.
Antarctic Operations and Safety Branch plan, coordinate, facilitate and deliver operations for the Australian Antarctic Program by safely resupplying and sustaining the Antarctic Stations and building operational capacity to deliver future Antarctic projects.
The Operations Management Centre serves as a focal point for the aggregation, assessment and distribution of information to enable a high degree of situational awareness across the full spectrum of Program operations.
**The Job**
Key duties will include, but are not limited to:
- engaging with internal and external stakeholders to support season operations,
- assist in the ticketing and provision activities to manage expeditioner movements throughout the season,
- assist in reporting and records management activities relating to:
- the maintenance of databases and statistical information,
- the maintenance of section manuals, guidelines and procedures,
- provide a range of administrative support to the section including assisting with procurement activities and secretariat services,
- perform research work and analysis including contributing to the preparation of briefings,
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Operations Branch sections to promote seamless information flows,
- ensuring that the seasonal deliverables and strategic objectives of the AAD are effectively captured within OMC planning,
- assist in the management of the training requirements for the section to ensure OMC capabilities meet current and future operational demands.

- Demonstrated experience in database management including data entry, record maintenance and reporting, with highly developed attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to ensure clear, effective messaging to a wide range of stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in managing changing circumstances, and the ability to communicate changes effectively to stakeholders to ensure understanding and compliance.
- A demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- The demonstrated capability to perform as a member of a professional team, preferably within an operationally focussed workplace, supporting a harmonious workplace.
- The ability to identify and develop practical and innovative solutions to support operational requirements and strategic objectives.
- Well-developed administrative skills.
**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship**:
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
**Security Clearance**:
- This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
