About the Project

Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role

Residing in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Manager Processing, this is an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent Metallurgy to join our growing mining company.

This role will lead the metallurgical function, providing key technical information and advice to ensure we achieve production outputs whilst maintaining our safety standards.

Site Based Roster: 4 days on 3 days off (Bus in, Bus out from Broome)

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the execution of operational plans to support stable and efficient plant performance.
- Manage and maintain the metallurgical accounting system to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Develop, implement and maintain short- and medium-term production planning to provide accurate and detailed forecasts.
- Ongoing management of operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.
- Continuously refine sampling and analytical methodologies to ensure data accuracy and process efficiency in support of production targets
- Support the Manager Processing in the development and implementation of long-term strategic planning.
- Actively foster continuous improvement to improve safety, improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs.

About You

- Hold a tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Hold a current WA driver's licence
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
- Experience with mineral sands
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and management
- Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team
- High level of computer proficiency
- Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organisation
- Strong People Leader
