Salary from: Stream A Level 5.1 ($96k) + superannuation

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join the City Planning, Economic and Community Development Branch at Logan City Council. This is a trial for a new role in the branch on a maximum-term, full-time basis until 30 June 2027. If the trial proves the value of the role for the branch, there is potential for conversion to a permanent position.

The Finance Officer functions with autonomy within defined corporate guidelines, policies, and procedures. The role supports decision making and the delivery of a wide range of policy, program, and project work to ensure the branch remains compliant with obligations and can function as an efficient and high performing team. Strong coordination, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills are essential for this role.

Position responsibilities include:

* Coordinating the preparation and amendment of capital and operational budgets for service delivery and project work.
* Monitoring commitments, spend and funds remaining against budgets.
* Preparing and interpreting financial reports and commentary.
* Collaborating with project and program leaders on the capture and transfer of delivered assets.
* Supporting financial planning, modelling, and analysis (e.g. impact of growth).
* Coordinating revenue, grants, fees, and charges.
* Providing reliable advice and assistance for ad-hoc needs and opportunities.

Key indicators for success:

* High level of knowledge and experience in financial planning, reporting and administration.
* Mature and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Familiarity and compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a changing environment.
* Ability to pass all pre-employment and background checks as required.
