Fellow - Medical Oncology 2026

On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will merge with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged organization with more than 22,000 employees serving over 1.2 million Victorians.

Full Time (12 months) – commencing February 2026

Job Role : Medical Oncology Fellow. The fellow will co‑ordinate the management of oncology patients who are eligible for or enrolled on clinical trials within the Oncology Unit of the Alfred Hospital. Key responsibilities include overseeing trial patients, their treatments and protocol‑specified reviews, assessing potential patients for suitability, obtaining consent in daily outpatient clinics, supervising junior medical staff, attending five outpatient clinics per week (including rural clinics), participating in multidisciplinary and weekly unit meetings, and contributing to the after‑hours on‑call roster, including weekends. Engagement of research projects during the placement is expected. Applications from two individuals for job sharing of a single position will be considered if presented as a coordinated application.

Professional Development : The placement will provide supervision, exposure and experience to enable the fellow to develop the skills, knowledge and credentials needed for transition into a medical oncology specialist training program or into the immediate post‑FRACP phase of career development.
