Job Title: Site Supervisor
The role of a site supervisor is crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of construction projects. Typically, a site supervisor will have extensive experience and specialist knowledge of a trade. They serve as the primary point of contact between the contracts manager and other employees and clients.
Key Responsibilities
A site supervisor must ensure that operations are compliant with company policies, standards of service, legislation, and client specifications. This includes ensuring the welfare and safety of all employees, sub-contractors, and others who are directly affected by operations under their control.
To guarantee that all contract work is carried out in full compliance with health, safety, welfare, and environmental regulations, the site supervisor must report any issues or deficiencies to their contracts manager. They must also conduct on-site risk assessments to determine the appropriate type and level of provision of signage, guarding, shoring, PPE, etc.
Additionally, the site supervisor must make arrangements to implement the outcome of the risk assessment prior to works commencing, taking into consideration external factors such as road traffic, ground conditions, and weather conditions. The site supervisor must also ensure that equipment is correctly used and maintained in good order, prioritizing the safety of pedestrians and considering the needs of the disabled.
Furthermore, the site supervisor must ensure safe working practices near buried utilities, ensure that all equipment is fit for use, and carry out their work in a safe and proper manner. They must adhere to the company's skills and competence policy and procedures, keep records of their work as required, and organize labor, plant, and materials for their operations. Regular liaison with the contracts manager and delivering team briefs are also essential responsibilities.
