About the role
Disability excellence' is seeking a passionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker (DSW) to join our team in Cobram, VIC. This is a casual role, offering flexible work hours to suit your lifestyle. As a DSW, you will play a crucial part in supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently and achieve their goals.
What you'll be doing
* Providing person-centred assistance with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and community participation
* Facilitating social, recreational, and educational activities to enhance the quality of life for our clients
* Advocating for the rights and interests of individuals with disabilities
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised support plans
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation to ensure the highest standards of care
* Promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all clients
What we're looking for
* A Certificate III or IV in Disability or a related field, or a willingness to obtain this qualification
* Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a community-based or in-home setting
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage with clients
* A compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those you support
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle is highly desirable
