The Health Manual Handling team is a statewide team of subject matter experts dedicated to minimising the risk of injuries associated with lifting, moving, or supporting loads—including people, equipment, and supplies.
Our mission is to equip staff with the knowledge, tools, and techniques to perform tasks with maximum safety, efficiency and capacity, both at work and home.
The Role:
Act as the regional lead (north) for safe manual handling across the Department of Health (DoH) by providing expert guidance, influencing safe work practices, and supporting the development and implementation of systems and strategies that minimise manual‐handling‐related risks and promote the safety and wellbeing of staff, patients, visitors, and consumers.
You will need
* Broad experience working as a Registered Nurse across a range of practice settings within the health sector.
* Sound knowledge and understanding (or working towards) of current Tasmanian Work Health & Safety legislation and an in-depth understanding of the current Hazardous Manual Tasks: Code of Practice.
* Experience in(or working towards) undertaking Work Health & Safety risk assessments in relation to manual handling risks.
* Experience in delivering education and training to diverse groups.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight,commencing as soon as possible for a period up to twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$118,297 to $125,543 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordancewithNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Tertiary or VET sector qualifications in education and training, including qualifications related to training people in manual handling, manual tasks, or general education and training.
