National Head of Safety
We are seeking an experienced and influential National Head of Safety to lead our organisation's safety strategy, culture, and performance across all sites nationally. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our people, while driving continuous improvement in safety systems and compliance.
The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, champion a strong safety culture, and partner closely with operational leaders to deliver safe, sustainable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and oversee the organisation's national safety strategy, frameworks, and policies.
* Lead and mentor a safety team across multiple sites and states.
* Monitor organisational compliance with WHS legislation, standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Drive proactive risk identification, hazard management, and incident prevention initiatives.
* Lead the response and investigation process for critical incidents and ensure lessons learned are embedded.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, and senior leaders.
* Champion a strong, positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership visibility.
* Oversee the development and delivery of safety training, audits, and continuous improvement programs.
* Prepare and present safety performance reports.
* Support our facility leaders to execute our safety strategy.
About You
* Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior safety leadership roles, ideally within manufacturing.
* Strong knowledge of national WHS legislation, standards, risk management, and safety systems.
* Proven ability to influence and engage at all organisational levels, including executive and frontline.
* Demonstrated experience leading and developing multi‐site safety teams.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to balance compliance, operational needs, and long‐term organisational goals.
* Skilled in incident investigation, root‐cause analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capability.
* Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related field (Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or higher).
* Ability to travel across Australia 2 weeks per month and internationally quarterly.
