Master Butchers Co‑operative Ltd (MBL) is a long‑standing South Australian co‑operative. We supply ingredients, packaging, equipment and protein products to food and beverage manufacturers nationally and internationally from our three sites. Our team of 140+ people support members and customers right across the State, nationally and internationally.

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our finance functions as part of the executive management team. You will work closely with the CEO and Board and lead a capable finance team.

Full‑time, Monday to Friday at Athol Park.


You will:

* Lead all day‑to‑day finance operations across MBL's trading divisions.
* Produce accurate monthly accounts, management reports and board packs.
* Own the annual $100m+ budget process, forecasts and cash flow management.
* Manage tax, BAS, FBT and payroll compliance with external advisers.
* Coordinate internal and external audits and address recommendations.
* Drive cost and margin improvement and support capital investment cases.
* Lead, coach and develop the finance team with clear goals and feedback.
* Maintain and improve finance systems, controls and reporting processes.
* Provide clear financial insight into projects and strategic decisions.
* Supervise, mentor and develop a small accounts/finance team.
* Liaise with banks, auditors, external accountants and key stakeholders confidently and professionally.


About you

You are a practical finance leader who is comfortable at both detail and board level. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships and stay steady under pressure.


You bring:

* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics.
* CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent).
* Around 10+ years' accounting experience, including senior finance roles.
* Strong background in financial management, budgeting and statutory reporting.
* Leadership experience with small to medium finance teams.
* Solid systems skills across accounting and ERP platforms.
* Confidence working with senior leaders, boards and external stakeholders.


Nice to have

* Experience in manufacturing, distribution, FMCG or B2B.
* Background in a member‑based or co‑operative environment.
* Pronto ERP software knowledge.
