Who we are

Gelganyem Land Management (GLM) is a 100% Traditional Owner‐owned land management business delivering professional, compliant and technically robust environmental services across the East Kimberley and beyond.

GLM combines local Indigenous knowledge with industry‐standard land management systems to deliver high‐quality, accountable and measurable outcomes for mining (including our land management contract with Rio Tinto at Argyle Diamond Mine), infrastructure, pastoral and government clients.

Who we are looking for

Gelganyem Land Management is looking for motivated people to join its team delivering land management services across the East Kimberley. You will be working as part of a strong, cross‐cultural team caring for country through activities such as weed control, revegetation, seed collection, nursery propagation and land management services. Some work will also be delivered through our land management contract with Rio Tinto at the Argyle Diamond Mine.

We are currently hiring for the following work areas:

* Licensed weed control team – we provide our clients industry leading integrated weed management solutions that support environmental outcomes
* Parks, gardens and easement maintenance team – we own and operate a range of plant and equipment to provide high quality natural area management for our clients
* River Farm Road plant nursery team – we are building on our native plant nursery operation to become the leader in growing premium plants for land rehabilitation and revegetation projects throughout the Kimberley.

What the jobs involve

* Working outdoors on country across the East Kimberley
* Weed control and land management work
* Plant nursery work including seed processing, plant propagation, potting plants, watering, and general nursery maintenance.
* Seed collection and revegetation projects
* Operating vehicles, equipment and machinery
* Working safely with chemicals (training provided)
* Working with a team on different properties and project sites
* *Some work may involve swing rosters and staying away from home for periods of time.
* Willingness to work outdoors in hot and dusty conditions
* A reasonable level of physical fitness
* Willingness to undertake training required for the role, including safe chemical handling
* Ability to pass a pre‐employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
* Knowledge of the East Kimberley region and surrounding country
* Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions

Desirable qualifications and experience

* Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
* Tertiary qualifications in Environment/Horticulture/Agriculture.
* Chemical handling or weed control training
* High Risk Work Licence – Forklift
* Experience operating machinery (tractor, skid steer, ATV, mowers, trailers etc.)
* Practical work experience such as station work, agriculture, gardening, or similar outdoor work
* Experience using GPS, GIS mapping or field data systems
* Knowledge of local plant species and country
* Trade qualifications in a relevant industry
