We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Services in Mackay. This role is central to our community-based Withdrawal Support Program, providing high-quality assessment, care planning, and evidence-informed nursing care in collaboration with GPs and counsellor/case managers.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support people on their recovery journey while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate referrals, intake, and assessments for clients entering the Withdrawal Support Program.
* Work with GPs to develop and manage shared care plans for medical withdrawal.
* Monitor clients' physical and psychological health throughout withdrawal.
* Provide safe and accurate medication management (storage, administration, documentation).
* Liaise with AOD Counsellors/Case Managers to arrange safe accommodation and facilitate transition into post-withdrawal support programs.
* Participate in case conferencing with GPs, clinicians, and other services.
* Provide routine nursing care, first aid, and supervise urine collection/testing.
* Maintain accurate records using LLW systems (Mimaso).
What We're Looking For
You will be a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration, bringing:
* Experience in client-centred nursing care, ideally with individuals experiencing AOD or mental health challenges.
* Knowledge of drug and alcohol withdrawal, including psychopharmacology.
* Strong clinical assessment, triage, and intervention skills.
* Experience working in primary health care or general practice settings.
* Understanding of infection control and standard precautions.
* Ability to provide crisis support, work flexibly, and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.

* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
* Current Australian Driver's Licence
