Mechanical Fitter

As a skilled mechanical fitter, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly of trains at our Bellevue site. With no two days ever being the same, this is an opportunity to progress through levels and develop your skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, your primary responsibilities will include installing and assembling railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand tools, and power tools. You will also perform basic testing and troubleshooting on mechanical systems and components, as well as identify defects and ensure quality through self-inspection.
The ideal candidate will possess a certificate III in Engineering or a relevant mechanical trade qualification, with experience in the manufacturing environment being advantageous. Additionally, proficiency in interpreting technical diagrams and drawings is essential, along with high-risk tickets or licenses such as EWP and working at heights.
Key Responsibilities:
* Read and apply technical documentation supplied.
* Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand tools, and power tools.
* Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical systems and components installed in the railway car.
* Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace, and align subassemblies and components.
* Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality.
* Remove and replace defective parts and components.
* Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
* Organize work instruction documents, tools, and railway car parts daily.
Requirements:
* Mechanical Trade Certification or Certificate III in Engineering or similar.
* Experience within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
* Ability to interpret technical diagrams & drawings.
* High risk tickets or licenses (EWP, working at heights etc) would be advantageous.
