You will build on your current field capability, and develop into broader technical and project work, including structured mentorship, in a supportive, knowledge sharing environment. AGE Consultants has a team of 38 groundwater management specialists across Australia, with expertise in hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, conceptualisation, GIS and groundwater modelling.
The Role
This is a field focused hydrogeology role with strong technical backing to guide your career.
You will spend a portion of your time on various sites across Queensland (with the potential for interstate work), working on groundwater investigations for mining, infrastructure, and water supply projects. Between field programs, you will step into data analysis and reporting, supported by our technical team.
Your work will include:
* Preparation, organisation and management of field equipment and logistics for site programs
* Drilling supervision and geological / hydrogeological logging and field data collection
* Groundwater sampling and monitoring
* Installation of monitoring bores and assisting with their design
* Slug and pumping tests, with data processing and interpretation
* Installation and maintenance of groundwater monitoring equipment (loggers, VWPs)
* Mentoring junior field staff and supporting other field programs
* Contributing to project delivery through analysis and reporting
Field trips can run up to 2 weeks at a time. This role would suit someone who enjoys these types of field programs that involve hands on work in varied environments. A willingness to mentor and teach other staff and is adept at engaging with clients and other stakeholders is also part of this role.
What you bring
You are early in your professional journey and yet serious about a career in hydrogeology. You do not need be an expert in every aspect of this work, but you do need curiosity, enthusiasm to work autonomously when needed, great organisational skills and a strong commitment to health and safety.
The essentials are:
* Degree in geology or environmental science
* A minimum of 1-2 years experience in geological (or ideally, hydrogeological) field investigations and analysis
* Physical fitness for remote and rugged environments
* Drivers licence with 4WD experience
* Full time Australian working rights
* Based in Townsville or willing to relocate permanently
