We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a proactive and experienced Finance Manager (Senior Financial Accountant) with industry experience to join our Financial Control team.

The Finance Manager (Senior Financial Accountant) reports directly into the Financial Controller and sits alongside the existing Senior Financial Accountant. The role owns a defined set of workstreams and supports the Financial Controller to deliver strong financial governance, high quality reporting and timely decision support for the business.

The role provides accounting expertise across the business, improving end‐to‐end processes and coaches the financial accountants through day‐to‐day guidance and review. The role works closely with the existing Senior Financial Accountant, Tax Manager, the Finance Operations Team Leader and Treasury.

Key focus areas include fixed asset and capital accounting, long‐term model and tax fixed asset register support, general support to the Tax Manager, and treasury and cash‐flow accounting and reporting. Additional tasks include technical accounting advice including position papers, maintenance of accounting policies and procedures, internal audit support and review of balance‐sheet reconciliations for the tax, debt and fixed asset areas.

Key Responsibilities

* Own fixed asset accounting across APAM's complex asset base including property, plant and equipment, investment property and intangibles, ensuring completeness, accuracy and appropriate classification
* Maintain and enhance controls across capital and fixed asset processes in partnership with the project management team, including WIP governance and timely capitalisation
* Provide key fixed asset and capital inputs to the long‐term model including asset movements, depreciation and amortisation profiles and other asset related assumptions
* Maintain the tax fixed asset register in coordination with the Tax Manager and ensure alignment between accounting and tax asset records where required
* Support ACCC reporting requirements relating to fixed assets, including preparation and review of relevant movement schedules and supporting workpapers
* Support daily and monthly cash‐flow management and reporting, including key cash movements, forecasting inputs and stakeholder communication
* Account for treasury transactions including borrowings, interest, fees and related items in line with APAM policy and applicable standards
* Review and approve balance‐sheet reconciliations for debt, derivatives and treasury related accounts, ensuring issues are escalated and resolved promptly
* Support tax control design, documentation and operating effectiveness testing, including preparation of evidence, walkthrough support and remediation of findings as directed by the Tax Manager
* Support internal audit activities across all Financial Control streams, including preparation of evidence, coordination of responses and follow‐up of remediation actions
* Regularly review relevant operational and financial processes and systems and recommend improvements and implement as necessary
* Provide technical accounting advice to the business and Finance team, including preparation of accounting position papers and guidance on treatment and documentation
* Coach and lift the performance and ability of the accounting team toward a business‐partnering culture to provide managers with the financial information and analysis they need to make sound commercial decisions

Qualifications

* Tertiary qualification in Commerce or Accounting
* CA or CPA qualified
* Experience in a medium to large finance team in a public or private company (preferred but not essential)
* Strong technical accounting knowledge gained through CA/CPA qualification and experience providing technical accounting and tax advice
* Experience in preparing month‐end and year‐end results to meet statutory and business reporting requirements
* Sound business acumen combined with problem‐solving and decision‐making skills
* High level of ability with financial reporting and statutory compliance and ability to present results and findings in an accurate, compelling and succinct manner
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional presentation skills
* High level of attention to detail and ability to develop error‐checking methodologies
* Ability to prioritise own efforts on multiple simultaneous projects, and takes personal accountability for outcomes
* Broad accounting system/software knowledge including experience using MS Office, advanced Excel skills
* Interpersonally savvy with the proven ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels
* Analytical and logical, while also able to apply creative, solutions‐based thinking, and commercially astute
* Empathic and considerate approach, and open to giving and receiving feedback
* Open to learning and sharing ideas and actively coaches and develops others
