This is a full-time, permanent position for a candidate experienced in the integrated management of cropping and livestock systems.About the RoleThis role involves the planning, coordination, and management of broadacre cropping and livestock activities across the property.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production of grain, fodder, and livestock (including pigs and sheep), while maintaining sustainable land management practices and compliance with animal welfare and biosecurity regulations.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and managing the planting, fertilising, spraying, and harvesting of cereal, legume, oilseed, and pasture cropsManaging rotational grazing and livestock feeding programs using on-farm grown feedMonitoring the health and welfare of sheep and pigs, and coordinating health treatments and animal husbandry tasksOverseeing the storage, cartage, and use of grain and fodder to support on-farm livestock operationsSupervising seasonal and permanent staff, contractors, and machinery operatorsMaintaining and operating agricultural equipment and ensuring machinery is service-readyMonitoring paddock performance, soil fertility, and pasture health through data collection and agronomic supportManaging infrastructure including fences, water systems, grain silos, hay sheds, and livestock facilitiesKeeping accurate records of inputs, outputs, livestock movements, treatments, and paddock historiesEnsuring compliance with environmental, WHS, and animal welfare standardsQualifications and ExperienceTo be eligible for this position, applicants must meet one of the following:Hold a relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification (e.g. Agriculture, Agribusiness, Animal Science); ORHave at least 5 years of full-time work experience in a similar mixed farming role; ORHave a combination of formal qualifications and experience deemed equivalentAdditional RequirementsDemonstrated experience managing broadacre cropping operations and livestock production concurrentlyStrong knowledge of animal husbandry, soil management, crop rotation, and integrated farming systemsFamiliarity with precision agriculture technologies, crop planning software, and livestock record-keeping toolsStrong leadership and communication skills to manage seasonal teams and coordinate with contractorsMechanically minded with experience in basic maintenance of farm equipmentValid driver's licence is essential; additional machinery or vehicle tickets are highly regardedWhat's on OfferCompetitive annual salary of $70,000 - $85,000 AUDPermanent full-time role with a well-established farming businessA diverse and dynamic role managing both livestock and cropping systemsOpportunity for growth within a progressive agricultural enterpriseSupportive workplace environment and access to modern infrastructure and equipmentThis is a full time, permanent position for a candidate experienced in the integrated management of cropping and livestock systems.
