Overview

VetPartners SO - Finance NSW Macquarie Park, NSW. Part time RR-9881

At VetPartners, we support more than 270 veterinary clinics across Australia and New Zealand, enabling our teams to deliver outstanding care to pets and their owners. Our people are at the heart of everything we do—and the finance team plays a critical role in helping them thrive.

We're looking for an experienced and priority-driven Financial Accountant to join our Finance Department, working a 6-day fortnight* in our dog-friendly office. In this role you will be responsible for the preparation and the reporting of accounting and financial data.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you'll bring your expertise across all areas of financial accountability while also supporting broader accounting functions. With strong customer service skills and a proactive mindset, you'll have the opportunity to lead process improvement initiatives and make a meaningful impact within the team. You'll thrive in a fast paced, high-volume environment where multitasking and prioritising come naturally.

Responsibilities

* Perform general accounting duties, including prepayments and accruals.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as FBT, BAS, and IRD.
* Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and highlight variances to the Finance Manager.
* Maintain Fixed Asset Register - tracking additions, disposals, and depreciation.
* Review and reconcile clinic P&Ls and allocate wholesaler invoices.
* Manage intercompany accounting and clearing account reconciliations.
* Support year-end audit processes and liaise with auditors.
* Ensure adherence to internal financial policies, controls, and systems.
* Identify and contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.

About you

You're an experienced accounting professional with strong technical capability, advanced Excel skills, and exposure to multi-site operations across Australia and New Zealand. You combine attention to detail with clear communication, a proactive attitude, and the ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.

You'll bring

* Demonstrated experience in a similar multi-site, high volume operational role with exposure to Australia and New Zealand
* Experience with hands-on month end closing
* Strong excel skills, and confidence working with large data sets
* Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritise moving deadlines
* High attention to detail and accurate reconciliation skills
* Excellent stakeholder management skills and a collaborative mindset
* Experience with Pronto (advantageous, not essential)
* A supportive team player who's equally confident working autonomously
* CA/CPA Qualifications or currently studying towards (ideal but not essential)
* Ability to work a 6-day fortnight. You'll work 4 consecutive days during the month end from the 2nd to 5th working day, with 2 other days prior to the 2nd day or after the 5th working day. This generally means one shorter 2‐day week and one longer 4‐day week, and the 2‐day week may fall either before or after the 4‐day week. Other weeks during the month will be a fixed 3-day week. This is planned 6 months ahead.
* Purpose-led work: Make a meaningful difference every day by supporting those who care for pets and their families
* Autonomy & impact: Responsible for prepayments and accruals.
* Collaborative culture: Work alongside passionate, committed people who value learning and growth
* Development opportunities: Ongoing professional development and the chance to grow with a dynamic organisation

If you are a motivated and strategic thinker with a passion for animal care best practices, we would love to hear from you.

This role features a hybrid work arrangement, in our dog friendly office to promote collaboration, build strong connections, and enhance team engagement, and will directly support our mission of delivering exceptional veterinary care.

VetPartners is committed to Equal Employment Opportunities. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive, diverse, and flexible workplace where differences are valued. We welcome people of all backgrounds, experience and abilities.
