**Position Title**: Media Officer (APS5)

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Write and distribute press releases, ensuring accuracy and alignment with departmental policies.
- Craft clear and compelling messages for the senior leadership team.
- Act as a spokesperson for the department, dealing with media inquiries and managing media relations.
- Monitor media coverage and provide timely advice to senior leadership on emerging issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and coherent messaging.
**Key Requirements**:
- At least one year of experience working in a media team at a Federal Government Department or Agency.
- Proven experience in dealing with the media on hot-button issues.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases and craft messages for senior leadership.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and issues management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Baseline security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
- Australian citizenship is mandatory.
