ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities, helping thousands of Australians every year find hope in the midst of all kinds of personal hardship. The Salvation Army offers the opportunity to use your skills and expertise to make a real difference in the lives of people who need help most.
Want to help a young person become a safe and confident driver? The Salvation Army needs volunteer driving mentors for young people who need support with achieving their log book hours. We are looking for people with a safe driving history who can be a positive role model for driving and life.
Oasis aims to offer critical points of intervention and support for homeless and disadvantaged young people between 16-25 years of age. Drive for Life is a driver training and mentoring program that equips young people who are overcoming adversity, to obtain their drivers licence. The program removes the barriers to achieving a licence and provides a pathway towards positive role models, developing independent life skills and improving employment prospects.
The Volunteer Driving Supervisor will be required to sit in the car with program participants, assist in logging necessary hours, reinforce safe driving skills and ensure all road rules and regulations are followed. Volunteers are intrinsic to the success of the program and participant; they will be providing much needed on-going support and mentorship to program participants. To help set volunteers up for success, they will be provided with necessary training, on-going support and become a valued member of the Oasis team. Volunteers will have access to Salvation Army vehicles for the purposes of this volunteer role.
Volunteering with The Salvation Army is a great opportunity to actively support one of Australia's largest not-for-profit organisations. It will also help you gain experience, skills and knowledge in a highly supportive environment. At The Salvation Army we care about our volunteers and are dedicated to ensuring your experience is both rewarding and memorable. You can go home every day knowing you've contributed to something special.
