About the opportunity This position will be responsible for providing professional, client focused pharmacy services and leadership within an evidence-based, quality and multidisciplinary health care environment at Townsville Prison Health Services (TPHS) and includes training, education, and research activities.
The objective is to promote safe, effective and efficient use of medicines in keeping with the department's goals and objectives and mission statements for the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
The TPHS pharmacy unit will lead the safe and quality use of medicines within the Townsville prisons.
The role will be underpinned by the Reducing Barriers to Health and Wellbeing: The Queensland Prison Health and Wellbeing Strategy ********* and will support efforts to: Coordinate patient-centred care; Create partnerships; Improve patient outcomes; Facilitate systems improvement.
About the service Prison Health Service is situated at the Townsville Correctional Centre and staff are subject to security and safety requirements of the Townsville Correctional Centre.
The Townsville Hospital has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Queensland Corrective Services (General Manager of the Townsville Correctional Centre) and is represented by the Queensland Health Nurse Unit Manager onsite.
Staff are to familiarise themselves with the orientation and induction to the facility incorporating Correctional Service safety induction requirements including Corrective Services criminal history check as well as Queensland Health.
PLEASE NOTE - This is a Permanent part-time positon, 44 hours per fortnight.

A health-related post-graduate qualification and/or enrolment in the SHPA residency program are desirable.
Ability to work across 5-days (Monday to Friday) as part of a normal roster, providing pharmacy services to TPHS.
Queensland Corrective Services Criminal History Check.
Drivers Licence : This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this.
