Who We Are:
Tagai State College consists of 17 campuses spread across 48,000 square kilometres in the Torres Strait.
Primary and secondary campuses are located on Thursday Island, while the other 16 campuses are on nearby islands, accessible by ferry, plane, or helicopter.
The College provides strong support to leaders through a team of experienced educators, with language and cultural activities central to the curriculum.
Mer Campus currently enrols 46 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
The campus has 2 teachers, teacher aides, local staff, and a teaching Head of Campus.
For most students, English is an additional language.
Located in the eastern Torres Strait, Murray Island has a population of around 450 people.
The island's people speak Torres Strait Creole and Meriam Mir.
The Head of Campus at Mer Island Campus is a teaching Head of Campus role.
The suitable applicant must be able to demonstrate capability to meet the accountabilities of a quality teacher and has demonstrated leadership capability to lead a Campus in alignment with the College strategic agenda.
As the Head of Campus you will:
Deliver the vision of the department
Improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools
Develop the quality of teaching and learning
Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.
This role is supervised by a member of the executive leadership team.
