Maintenance Handy Person – Rockhampton Hotel
You are a practical and reliable maintenance professional who takes pride in keeping a property safe, functional, and well presented. You have a strong eye for detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues before they escalate. This role is essential to maintaining the quality, appearance, and smooth operation of the property, while responding promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
Position Overview
* Carry out general maintenance and repairs across guest rooms, common areas, and building facilities
* Demonstrated skills in painting, plastering, and basic carpentry
* Coordinate, liaise with, and negotiate services with external contractors
* Supervise contractor work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with required standards
* Maintain and follow a preventative maintenance schedule
* Conduct routine inspections and proactively address maintenance issues
* Communicate effectively with guests and staff regarding maintenance requests and work progress
* Work efficiently with a strong focus on cost control
* Contribute to a safe workplace by adhering to WHS policies and procedures
* Hospitality industry experience is an advantage
* Ability to remain calm, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
* Strong attention to detail with professional presentation and organisational skills
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
* Casual position – hours as required
