National Grid Support Service is seeking a fully qualified and experienced Electrician to take on a senior field role focused on high-quality residential solar PV installations and service delivery. This opportunity is ideal for a technician looking for a fresh start and the ability to grow into a leadership position within a trusted and innovative solar provider.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
Installation and Technical Delivery
Lead the safe, compliant installation of residential solar PV systems to AS/NZS 5033 and 3000 standards
Conduct onsite assessments, verify designs, and flag technical risks prior to installation
Oversee final commissioning and ensure all documentation meets Clean Energy Council and state regulatory requirements
Complete 3–5 residential PV installations per week, depending on system size and complexity
Maintain 100% compliance with AS/NZS 5033 and 3000 standards across all installations
Identify and report technical risks during site assessments prior to installation commencement
Complete job commissioning, photos, and documentation submission within 24 hours of installation
Achieve a post-install compliance score card audit pass rate of 95%+ on random or scheduled inspections
Service and Fault Work
Perform diagnostic testing, repairs, and service calls
Respond to post-install customer concerns with a focus on quality resolution and education
Track recurring faults and assist in continuous product and process improvement
Respond to service calls within 3 business days of assignment unless otherwise scheduled
Successfully resolve 90%+ of service jobs on first visit through accurate diagnosis and prep
Record and report recurring product or installation issues via the internal quality system
Maintain strong communication with clients post-service to ensure satisfaction and clarity
Achieve less than 3% rework rate on own installs within a 12-month post-install window
Team and Operational Support
Lead a small installation crew, including supervision of apprentices or junior technicians
Oversee the local warehouse operation for your crew and one subcontractor team, ensuring materials are prepared, tracked, and maintained
Liaise with the office-based design and compliance team to support accurate quoting and planning
Supervise at least 1 apprentice or junior tech per install, ensuring correct safety and technique
Maintain warehouse readiness with accurate inventory, tidy layout, and tool upkeep
Conduct weekly 30-minute warehouse checks and stock usage reporting
Coordinate closely with design team to reduce the design-to-install change rate below 5%
Lead weekly briefings with install team to discuss safety, scheduling, and product updates
Training and Knowledge Development
Provide field-level training and mentoring to junior electricians
Collaborate with the head office to create content for National Grid Support Service in-house training platform
Support the induction and skill uplift of new staff or subcontractors
Deliver a minimum of 1 training session or on-site mentoring activity per month
Contribute 1 piece of technical content (video, tip sheet, or training note) per quarter to the TSS BrightMark training platform
Assist with the onboarding of all new install team hires, ensuring they are site-ready within 2 weeks
Provide constructive feedback on apprentices' development progress every 8 weeks
Participate in quarterly safety and compliance review sessions with technical leadership
Candidate Requirements
A-Grade Electrical Licence (Tasmania or transferable)
Clean Energy Council Accreditation – Grid-connect mandatory, battery preferred
2 to 5 years of residential solar installation experience
Strong understanding of Australian Standards and network/grid connection protocols
Comfortable leading small teams and representing the company professionally onsite
Ability to manage time, logistics, and on-the-fly problem solving
Valid driver's licence, white card, working at heights certification

Relocation allowance up to $7,000, depending on distance and transport type
