Your New Role:
You’ll join at the very beginning of the company’s next growth phase. They have innovative, industry disrupting products launching in 2025 and are commencing a complete mobile application / software re-architecture, a “ground up redesign” of the current ecosystem of business-critical software that powers these products. Your role? You’ll own and lead this transformation journey. You’ll bridge the gap between IT and product development. You’ll be right in the thick of the action in this highly visible, business critical role. Your software development roadmap will align to the continuous evolution of the product development roadmap and this partnership will be critical in not only your success in the role but also company’s continued innovation and competitive advantage. You’ll own the platform roadmap/decision making and will lead a team of 4 to build the ecosystem with a future state in mind where the company can scale exponentially into new service lines, new geographies and new markets.
In more detail, your key responsibilities will include:
7. Providing thought leadership for mobile application and cloud development (AWS) to provide operational efficiency, extensibility and scalability.
8. Lead the team to design, develop and deliver mobile applications and solutions to support existing and new product lines.
9. Proactively managing mobile solutions hosting platform vendors, identify new opportunities for collaboration with 3rd party vendors as required.
10. Providing technical direction and guidance to less experienced engineers. Mentor other team members in the software team and share best practices to achieve optimal outcomes for customers.
11. Partnering effectively with Global Commercial, Marketing, R&PD teams to ensure fit for purpose mobile applications are developed.
12. Managing incident escalations, communication, priorities and impacts to ensure efficient and effective IT service restoration.
13. Leading best practices in terms of design, architecture, code review and delivery of software solutions.
14. Providing thought leadership in designing extensible software solutions that connect with products and can be easily deployed on Android or iOS devices.
15. Reviewing test cases and build an automated test framework for ongoing feature release.
16. Reviewing and signing off on builds and change notes prior to deployment to production; and
17. Creating necessary protocols for code traceability across different regions, platforms and product lines.
This is a fantastic opportunity for either a Tech Lead looking to step up or an experienced Software Development Manager who is looking for a role with tangible business impact.
Your Background & Experience:
Within the context of the role described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key experience/capabilities:
18. Extensive experience in mobile application development, ideally in a highly regulated sector (ideally healthcare or medical). You’ve built great products in your career that you are proud of.
19. Solid technical background in mobile applications development and release across various platforms – iOS and Android.
20. Demonstrated experience being involved in product development lifecycles and in deploying at least cloud based mobile solutions from connected devices.
21. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management to deliver fit for purpose solutions within budget constraints and tight timelines.
22. Knowledge of React Native platform and components is highly desirable; and
23. Excellent stakeholder engagement, listening and communication skills with proven experience mapping requirements to fit for purpose application solutions.
