Your next career opportunity
As a Research Assistant within the unconventional T cell research programme at the Peter Doherty Institute, you will contribute to pioneering studies in immunology, focusing on the generation and application of biologics. You'll collaborate with esteemed researchers, Dr Fern Koay and Dr Nicholas Gherardin, enhancing your expertise in immunology and protein biochemistry while gaining valuable experience in data analysis and scientific mentoring.
Your responsibilities will include:
Protein Production for Immunology Research: Plan and execute experiments to support biologics generation, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility.
Collaborate and Communicate: Work with supervisors and team members, maintaining detailed records and presenting research findings.
Mentor and Support: Contribute to training and supervising students and new laboratory staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
Maintain Laboratory Standards: Assist with administrative duties, lab maintenance, and uphold safety practices.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an enthusiastic and organised individual with a background in immunology or biochemistry, eager to contribute to innovative research and develop your technical skills within a collaborative team.
You may also:
Hold a BSc (Honours) degree in Immunology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
Possess strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail in data recording and analysis.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a research team.
Exhibit a proactive attitude towards learning technical and aseptic techniques.
Have experience in administrative duties related to research management.

Your new team - The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity
The Doherty Institute is a world-class institute combining research in infectious disease and immunity with teaching excellence, reference laboratory diagnostic services, epidemiology and clinical services. It is a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and Melbourne Health.
A new, purpose-built building for the Doherty Institute was completed in early 2014.
