Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Special Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal section, you will provide high-level legal services and advice to the Council, staff, and Aboriginal people within the region.
You will work autonomously and report to the Principal Legal Officer, providing senior-level legal services to internal units and specific external projects as required. This includes working closely with the Legal Practice Manager and Principal Legal Officer to coordinate and attend to requests for legal services from various sections.
In addition, you will assist the team of legal professionals who provide legal representation and advice to traditional Aboriginal landowners and native title holders regarding matters under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 and the exercise of native title rights arising from the Native Title Act 1993.

Required Skills and Qualifications
* Ochre card (working with vulnerable people check)
* National police clearance
* Driver's licence
* Qualified to be admitted as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory with at least five years post-admission experience in providing commercial legal advice
