About the role
Southern Seas Mechanical is seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Mechanic to join our team in Albany, Western Australia. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a range of heavy machinery and equipment used across the agricultural, civil and transport sectors. As a key member of our technical services team, you will ensure the fleet is well-maintained and operational to support our long-term clients.
What you'll be doing
1. Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy plant equipment including excavators, ag machinery, trucks and equipment.
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues on heavy plant machinery
3. Complete maintenance documentation and record keeping as required
4. Collaborate with technicians and customers to ensure equipment is running optimally
5. Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed
6. Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures
What we're looking for
1. Formal trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanic
2. Minimum 5 years' experience as a Heavy Plant Mechanic, ideally in an Ag or construction environment
3. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify and rectify equipment faults
4. Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine systems
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
6. Commitment to safe work practices and environmental sustainability
7. Positive, collaborative and solutions-focused attitude
