Downes Wholesale Nursery is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Estimating Assistant to join our busy sales and administration team. This role is pivotal in supporting our quoting process for large-scale landscape projects and wholesale orders. You will be responsible for interpreting plant schedules, calculating costs, and ensuring our clients receive accurate and timely pricing.

Key Responsibilities
* Quote Preparation: Assist in creating comprehensive quotes by extracting data from landscape plans and plant schedules.
* Data Entry & Management: Utilise Microsoft Excel to maintain pricing spreadsheets, track stock availability, and update client records.
* Supplier Liaison: Communicate with internal production teams and external allied suppliers to source availability and current market pricing.
* Administrative Support: Assist the Estimating team with filing, following up on outstanding quotes, and preparing tender documentation.
* Ad-hoc Tasks: The employee will also perform any other duties as directed by management to support the nursery's overall operational needs.
Selection Criteria
* Technical Skills: Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (ability to use formulas, sort data, and manage large spreadsheets is essential).
* Horticultural Knowledge: Previous experience or an interest in Horticulture is highly regarded. Familiarity with plant nomenclature (botanical names) and sizes will significantly flatten the learning curve.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry.
* Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for professional interaction with clients and team members.
Reliability: A self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently under flexible hour arrangements.
