About the Role
The manager data governance and linkage will lead BOCSAR's data governance and linkage processes for key data assets and research projects to ensure they align with best practice.
This is an opportunity to apply technical skills to ensure data outputs from linked data assets are robust, well communicated, and comply with privacy legislation and regulatory requirements.
The manager data governance and linkage works closely with BOCSAR's executive team and stakeholders across DCJ Divisions, other government agencies, and non-government stakeholders to develop evidence that can be used to inform and improve policy design, service reform and client outcomes.
What You'll Do
Manage and lead the development and implementation of data governance policies to ensure analysis, reporting, evaluation and research activities comply with legislative and regulatory requirements and align with data governance best practices.
Manage and lead data governance and linkage processes for key linked data assets and research projects.
Provide advice and support within BOCSAR and across DCJ Divisions, other government agencies and non-government stakeholders on sharing unit record data including data governance, privacy and security considerations, interpretation of results/data and disclosure of data.
Develop BOCSAR and DCJ's capacity to translate analysis and research into practice, allowing internal and external stakeholders to have robust evidence that can be used to improve frontline services and client outcomes.
About BOCSAR
The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) is a statistical and research agency within the NSW Department of Communities and Justice whose role is to analyse and report on trends and patterns in the criminal justice system.
BOCSAR was established in ****.
Our aim is to assist policy makers and administrators in the criminal justice system to develop and implement strategies which reduce crime, and provide a more efficient, effective and equitable justice system.
What We're Looking For
In addition to the essential requirements outlined in the role description, we are seeking a candidate with extensive experience in data governance, data linkage, and research or evaluation involving large administrative datasets.
Tertiary qualifications in statistics, epidemiology, or a related discipline with a strong statistical component are essential.
The successful candidate will also have substantial experience using SAS, STATA, and R.
Strong communication skills are critical, particularly the ability to translate complex technical information for a range of audiences.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in data linkage and applied research, along with a sound understanding of NSW privacy legislation and data governance principles.
Experience working with the Human Services Dataset (HSDS) would be highly regarded.
