Seeking a Skilled, Professional Singer for High-Quality, Collaborative Recording Projects
We're building a roster of talented vocalists to work with a select group of independent producers on original music tracks. These producers create layered, atmospheric electronic/dance music and focus on raw creative flow rather than traditional notation or sheet music.
The role is on-call and project-based: you'll be brought in for specific sessions when a track needs vocals. The producers will provide reference melodies (hummed or demoed), rough backing tracks, chord progressions, and lyrical concepts. Your job is to interpret these ideas, learn the melodies by ear, develop strong vocal performances, and deliver clean, professional recordings.
Key Requirements:
* Proven professional experience recording vocals in studio environments using microphones (e.g., previous sessions, demos, releases, or commercial work).
* Strong ability to learn melodies and arrangements by ear quickly—no sheet music or formal notation will be provided.
* Excellent pitch, tone control, and vocal technique for layered harmonies, ad-libs, and main leads.
* Professionalism: punctual, reliable, communicative, and focused on delivering high-quality takes.
* Comfort working collaboratively with producers who guide via audio references and verbal direction.
* Stage/live performance experience is a bonus (helps with confidence and delivery under direction).
* Based in or near Melbourne for in-person studio work (home studio or rented facilities).
What the Role Involves:
* Receiving demo tracks, hummed/voiced melody lines, and production ideas from the producers.
* Learning and refining vocal parts by ear, adding your own creative flair where appropriate (harmonies, runs, textures).
* Recording multiple takes in a professional or semi-pro studio setup.
* Delivering polished, edited vocal stems ready for mixing.
* Flexible availability for sessions (daytime, evenings, weekends—arranged in advance).
Compensation & Terms:
* Competitive session rates (negotiable based on experience; typically $X–$X per hour or flat per track/song).
* Paid per session or per completed track.
* Clear agreements on usage rights, credits, and royalties (if applicable to the project).
* Opportunity for ongoing work with multiple producers if the chemistry is right.
