Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow-vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160 km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector Southwest deposits.
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Environment Advisor to support compliance, monitoring, and reporting at Deflector and Rothsay mine sites.
Reporting to the Underground Supervisor, the Underground Production Driller is responsible for safely and efficiently operating long-hole production drills for stope production, ensuring all activities are completed in line with Vault Minerals' operational procedures, legislative requirements, and best practice safety standards to achieve production and safety targets.
This position will be offered on a 14 : 14 FIFO roster from Perth or a DIDO roster from Geraldton.
Key Responsibilities
Operate long-hole production drills safely and efficiently for stope production purposes
Set up drilling rigs accurately according to drill designs and plans
Perform collaring, drilling, and reaming activities to mine plans and survey specifications
Monitor drilling operations and ground conditions; report any hazards or inconsistencies
Carry out minor troubleshooting, adjustments, and first-line maintenance on drill rigs
Complete pre-start checklists, shift reports, and hole progress logs accurately
Coordinate with Mining Engineers, Surveyors, and Supervisors to optimise drilling accuracy and performance
Maximise rig utilisation by ensuring timely setup, relocation, auto-drilling at end of shift, and shift handovers
Manage drill consumables efficiently and report shortages promptly
Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance inspections
Communicate clearly with mining crews via two-way radio systems during drilling activities
Assist with other underground tasks as directed by supervisor
Experience & Qualifications
Completion of Year 10 education
Minimum 1 year experience in underground long-hole drilling operations
Proven track record of safe underground drilling practices
Required Certifications
WA Manual Driver's Licence (C-Class)
WA Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC)
Senior First Aid Certificate
Working at Heights Certification
Level 1 & Level 2 Isolation (Site Inducted)
Knowledge in Gas Test Atmospheric (Site Inducted)
IT Loader (desirable)
