Our client is a well‐established, specialist family law practice. We are looking for a Senior Family Lawyer (Special Counsel/Partner level) to take ownership of a significant stream of family law work and help shape the next stage of the practice.
You'll manage complex matters end‐to‐end and provide leadership across the team, including mentoring, supervising and contributing to strategy on higher‐risk files. The work is a mix of advisory, negotiation and litigation, with scope to deepen your strengths (or build new ones) across:
* High‐value property settlements (business structures, trusts and complex asset pools)
* Parenting matters (relocations, contraventions, recovery, risk issues)
* Domestic and family violence matters and urgent applications
* Financial agreements (pre‐/post‐separation) and consent‐order pathways
* Mediation preparation, settlement conferences and court advocacy
Key Requirements:
* Minimum 10 years' experience in family law private practice
* Strong technical capability across parenting and property matters
* Demonstrated experience running litigation files (FMC/FCFCOA) and negotiations
* Confidence in mentoring lawyers and contributing to a positive team culture
* Commercial mindset (client care, file strategy, practice growth)
* Australian practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
On offer:
* $200,000 base salary + bonuses
* Clear growth to equity pathways
* Flexible work arrangements
* Quality matters and steady workflow (no "empty diary" anxiety)
* Strong support structure (admin/processes) to keep you focused on legal work
* Opportunity to step into a true leadership role and shape the practice's direction (Partner role)
* Clear pathway for long‐term seniority/partnership outcomes
