This role will see you assist the senior management and finance team to delivery clear and precise financial data, around the companies many departments. Moving from current excel based systems to more complex automated, and integrated systems. This is your chance to shape finance and data systems in preparation for future growth. You will play a pivotal role in improving the organisation's data capabilities and working closely with finance and technology leaders. Immediate priorities include understanding the current systems and planning for future analysis to better equipment the Management team with the data they need to make the right decisions.
This is a hands-on role with the need for understanding or multiple data streams and how that data should best be used and presented.
The Role
As the Finance Business Analyst, you'll bridge finance and data analytics, along with specific regulatory requirements and oversight, key responsibilities include:
* Analysing and interpreting project financial data to assist the executive with business decisions.
* Developing and maintaining financial models for forecasting and budgeting.
* Monitoring spend trends and providing actionable insights to assist with managing budgets.
* Preparing and presenting accurate monthly financial accounts, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
* Processing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations in accordance with accounting standards.
* Monitoring day-to-day business cash flow, including forecasting, monitoring, and optimisation of working capital.
* Working closely with Senior Management to ensure accuracy of airline bookings and sales reconciliation.
* Ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, tax regulations (GST, PAYG, FBT), and audit requirements.
* Monitor compliance for all payroll related items.
* Partnering with operational and executive teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
* Maintaining and improving internal financial controls, systems, and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure data integrity.
* Coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as required.
* Assist in designing and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards, upgrading existing reports, and developing new insights.
* Assist in improving management reporting and supporting finance transformation.
* Collaborating with admin/finance and ICT teams to build scalable, data-driven systems.
* Effectively communicating project financial information to non-financial staff, clients, or stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or related field.
* Minimum five years of experience as a Finance Officer.
* Experience in mid-level accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB)
* Experience working with ERP programs from a financial perspective (e.g. SAP, LN, Oracle)
* Experience performing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting activities.
* Experience in the use of the Microsoft Office 365 products suite with extensive knowledge and skills in Excel.
