Social Worker/Psychologist - Counsellor - Children, Young People and Families

Remuneration: $37.03 - $57.10 per hour + super • Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until December 2025 • Location: Forster Community Health Service • Hours Per Week: 24 • Requisition ID: REQ • Applications Close: Sunday, 28th September 2025

Where You'll Be Working: Join our dedicated Counselling Team within the Children, Young People and Families Service, based at Forster Community Health. In this temporary role, you’ll work across the Lower Mid-North Coast region, delivering vital support to children, young people and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll contribute to wellbeing, service planning and quality improvement initiatives, with ongoing professional development and supervision.

Responsibilities

- Deliver targeted, evidence-based support to children, young people and their families across the Lower Mid North Coast.
- Conduct intake, assessment, planning and implementation of tailored therapeutic interventions (individual therapy to group programs).
- Engage with clients in settings including Community Health centres, schools, homes and community spaces; some outreach required.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure coordinated, high-quality care within a multidisciplinary team.
- Identify and respond to child wellbeing and protection concerns in line with legislative and policy requirements.
- Contribute to service planning and quality improvement initiatives; maintain accurate clinical records.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in regular clinical supervision.
- Participate in orientation and training to support role success.

About You / Qualifications

- Social Workers: hold at minimum a bachelor's degree in social work providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Psychologists: hold a four-year degree in psychology (three-year degree with fourth-year honours or equivalent) and be registered (general) or eligible for registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia via AHPRA.
- Ability to provide therapeutic support to children, young people and families; experience in assessment, intervention and outcome evaluation.
- Understanding of the legal and policy frameworks governing child protection in NSW; ability to respond with sensitivity, professionalism and ethical care in complex situations.
- Cooperative team player with effective communication skills; commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and understanding of the unique challenges faced by these communities.
