Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Engineering Services Manager to join us in a permanent, full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
You’ll lead the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality engineering and maintenance services across Mater Springfield facilities. As a technical and managerial leader, you’ll drive performance, safety, and continuous improvement in support of Mater’s mission and operational goals. In this role, you will:
* Manage engineering maintenance programs and oversee the operational budget across Mater Springfield
* Provide technical and managerial leadership to a diverse maintenance team
* Ensure plant and equipment reliability through proactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance planning
* Establish and maintain maintenance programs that meet relevant standards and workplace health and safety requirements
* Oversee safety systems and compliance, including permit-to-work and risk management processes
* Develop and implement improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency and sustainability
* Collaborate with internal and external partners to align engineering operations with business objectives
* Lead, coach, and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence
* Contribute to strategic planning and resource optimisation to support Mater’s broader infrastructure goals
About you
You’re a skilled and proactive engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for continuous improvement. With extensive experience managing complex maintenance operations, you bring both strategic insight and hands‑on leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-performing engineering services. The ideal candidate will have:
* Extensive management experience (10+ years) in multi‑trade maintenance, either insourced or outsourced
* Proven ability to lead technically diverse teams in complex maintenance environments
* Experience in managing contractors
* Experience in managing small to medium size projects
* Analytical and problem‑solving attributes as it relates to building infrastructure
* A strong focus on safety leadership, compliance, and continuous improvement
* Experience in healthcare or similar regulated industries – desirable
