Position Description
Salary Classification: Postgraduate Fellow. Remuneration: $103.65 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options.
About The Role
The Postgraduate Fellow in the Emergency Department is responsible for the provision and documentation of safe, effective and appropriate patient‑centred medical care in a team‑based environment. This position requires participation on a 7‑day a week/24‑hr roster, with ability to work in charge of the department on night shift.
* Senior Medical Officer in charge of the department, including night shift.
* Admitting Officer.
* Coordinate and oversee deployment of resources within the department in conjunction with the nurse‑in‑charge to ensure patients are seen promptly.
* Notify the on‑call ED consultant of staffing problems during the shift. Additional staff called in only with authorization of the ED consultant.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
About You
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
* Fellowship of Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or suitable overseas specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine or final year of training toward fellowship.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high‑quality compassionate medical care.
* Experience in or knowledge of programs for improving the organisation and delivery of care in Emergency Medicine.
