The Queensland Government is piloting a new program to improve the management and delivery of subsidised teacher housing statewide, particularly in rural and remote areas. This initiative includes recruiting an AO6 Senior Infrastructure Services Officer to provide essential property and infrastructure support, oversee maintenance and compliance, coordinate housing assets, and contribute to long‑term strategic planning to strengthen teacher attraction and retention across Queensland.
Your new role
As the Senior Infrastructure Services Officer, you’ll work regionally as part of a small, collaborative team focused on delivering safe, compliant and effective housing solutions. You will act as the vital link between local school‑based housing activities and centralised housing and infrastructure functions. You will also support the rollout of the new System and help embed improved processes, compliance practices and data integrity across your regional portfolio.
Key ResponsibilitiesHousing & Property Coordination
1. Support tenancy and leasing processes, including inspections and managing complex property matters.
2. Provide expert advice on tenancy legislation, policies and compliance requirements.
3. Coordinate maintenance and repairs with QBuild and external contractors, ensuring timely resolution of housing-related issues.
Infrastructure, Planning & Systems Support
4. Assist with system implementation and ongoing data management for the Employee Housing System (EHS).
5. Undertake research, analysis and evaluation to support continuous improvement in infrastructure and asset management activities.
6. Contribute to the development and rollout of innovative, practical solutions aligned to industry standards and departmental priorities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advice
7. Build strong working relationships with school leaders, Local Accommodation Committees (LACs), regional teams and other stakeholders.
8. Deliver high‑quality, client‑centred advice to inform decision‑making across a range of infrastructure, planning and housing matters.
9. Prepare reports, briefing notes, submissions and responses, including Ministerial correspondence.
Operational Delivery & Team Support
10. Work collaboratively within project teams to support strategic and operational outcomes.
11. Manage and prioritise workloads to meet required timeframes.
12. Model professionalism, accountability and public sector values in all aspects of the role.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following:
13. Experience in property management, infrastructure planning, asset management or a related field.
14. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
15. Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, and procedural requirements.
16. High‑level written communication skills, including report writing.
17. Excellent organisational skills and resilience in managing competing priorities.
18. A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach with a commitment to service delivery in regional communities.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will gain a full-time temporary contract for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based in Townsville. Receiving an attractive hourly rate of $78.41 + Super.
