About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team at a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Oxenford. You will be supporting residents with diverse needs, including intellectual disability, trauma histories, and mental-health challenges. Your role is to promote independence, dignity, and meaningful daily living.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide respectful, person-centered support to residents
* Assist with daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication prompts)
* Support emotional wellbeing using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
* Build positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and clear communication
* Implement behaviour support strategies in line with NDIS guidelines
* Encourage community participation, social engagement, and skill development
* Maintain accurate documentation and shift notes
* Work collaboratively with the team and follow individual support plans
Required Skills
* Compassion, patience, and strong emotional awareness
* Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
* Understanding of trauma-informed care and mental-health considerations
* Excellent communication skills, including de-escalation and active listening
* Respect for autonomy, boundaries, and individual differences
* Reliability, consistency, and commitment to ethical care
* Ability to follow behaviour support plans and safety procedures
Required Qualifications & Checks
* Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or equivalent
* Current First Aid & CPR
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain)
* Blue Card if required
* Valid driver's licence
* Experience in SIL or psychosocial disability support is highly regarded
