About this Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Quality Engineer to join our national project and engineering team. This newly established role will provide quality assurance and oversight across the full lifecycle of AVK's large, multidisciplinary projects.
Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, subcontractors, and project managers, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, ITPs, QMPs, FAT requirements, and regulatory obligations across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and automation packages.
This role will support all major AVK projects nationally, including water infrastructure upgrades, engineered product deliveries, large gate/valve systems, hydraulic power units, control panels, and integrated electromechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain and review project quality documentation, including ITPs, QMPs, FAT plans, welding and inspection documentation, traceability registers, NCR logs and QA packs.
* Conduct quality inspections at AVK facilities, subcontractor workshops and supplier sites across mechanical, electrical, control systems and hydraulic disciplines.
* Review and verify materials, fabrication processes, welding procedures, coatings, machining, hydraulic assemblies, electrical panel builds and instrument installations.
* Support installation and commissioning teams by ensuring documentation, inspections and test records are completed accurately.
* Implement internal and external audits of suppliers, manufacturing partners and project documentation.
* Liaise with project managers, procurement and document control to ensure complete and accurate QA documentation flow.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
* Proven experience in quality engineering within the mechanical engineering discipline, preferably with major water supply infrastructure projects.
* Experience delivering quality requirements for water infrastructure, utilities, or similar highly regulated sectors.
* Strong understanding of ITPs, QMPs, FATs, welding inspection, coating inspection, hydraulics, electrical panel QA, and traceability requirements.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs and technical specifications.
* Hands-on experience with NCR management, corrective action processes, supplier auditing, and quality verification.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
* Qualifications in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is highly regarded.
* Certifications in welding inspection, coatings inspection, auditing, or quality systems is very advantageous.
